42 Physical Exam The only elements of the physical exam that have been sufficiently studied and that are recommended are: height, weight and body mass index as part of obesity screening (Level II) vision screening (Level II); hearing screening (Level II). There is no evidence that cardiopulmonary, abdominal or neurologic exams, done as routine screening maneuvers in asymptomatic patients, will reliably detect occult disease of any type.
